Fishing Reports

Date: 13-12-2008

Well as we predicted last time the Snapper have been on a ferocious bit. Crews fishing locations around Ardrosson have been bagging out in under ˝ an hour. We are also getting good reported from Tapply’s shoals, Glenelg barges, Stanvac barges and grounds around Rapid Head and Wirrina.

Yellow fin whiting have been prolific for those of us who are land based, good consistent catches are coming from Hallet cove, Southport, Aldinga, Selliks, Seacliff and Brighton, with the shortage of fresh Sea worms the best bait is pealed prawns on a running rig with a burley cage.

For those of you who prefer a bit of a drive the Murray Mouth has been rumored to be producing small Mulloway and plenty of Salmon trout in the mouth and also in side  the Coorong. Bream can also be found inside the coorong but be careful of the sand bars that are building up at the moment.

If fresh water is your scene then try from Wellington down to Goolwa for Callop and carp. Carp can be particularly good fun for the kids to target as they are prolific and easy to catch.

Back into the salt and Port Noarlunga has been producing Yellow fin whiting in the shallows, bream under the jetty, Gar and tummies in the evenings and Squid at sunset. So if you are looking for an easy relaxing spot then head down to the jetty for a good mixed bag.

We would expect to see more catches of King George Whitting and Blue crabs coming soon, will have wore on those two species next time

Tight lines

Don Davidson
